About me

A little of my story so far...

British born and raised, I’ve lived in Italy for most of my adult life, amassing two decades of experience as a translator and international PR and communications specialist.
There’s never a dull moment at Conexus Communications, where I wear several professional “hats.” A significant part of my work involves freelance translation and editing, adapting Italian, Spanish, and French texts for English-speaking audiences. I also collaborate directly with international motorsport teams and riders as a press officer, handling everything from content creation (web copy, press kits, releases) to interviews, social media management, interpreting, and on-site event coordination. Drawing on my background in sport psychology, I offer mental coaching and media training to athletes and colleagues, helping them prepare for the mental and communication challenges of competition. My writing has appeared in various motorcycle publications, reflecting extensive experience across the MotoGP, WorldSBK, and F1 paddocks. One career highlight was the translation of Marco Simoncelli: The Tribute Book (Haynes, 2013) from Italian into English. I pride myself on a fast, flexible, and friendly “get it done” approach, which has enabled me to build strong experience and networks across the industries I serve. Whether you need words crafted, messages communicated, or minds prepared, I’m ready to help.

What my clients say

I’ve known Heather since we worked together in the Ducati Corse comms office in the early 2000s and, having noted her professionalism and abilities back then, I asked her to be part of the Team HRC press office in the Superbike World Championship, where she writes and/or edits technical texts and team press kits and releases. Her extensive knowledge of world championship level motorsport and its dynamics is an additional asset that makes Heather one of the best-known and most respected figures in the industry.
FEDERICA DE ZOTTIS, HONDA RACING CORPORATION, JAPAN
Heather translated all the texts for the website, the menus and the collaterals of our recently opened boutique hotel in the Lake Como area. I had a very tight schedule and she was very fast and accurate with the translations, bringing out the very essence of the message we wanted to convey to the reader. I highly recommend her contribution to your next project, as she is an amazing professional.
FRANCESCO SPREAFICO, SALES MANAGER AT GREEN STEEL GROUP, ITALY
Heather’s professionalism and wide-ranging capabilities have been an outstanding feature of her tenure in the WorldSBK championship. I would heartily recommend her work and her work ethic to anyone.
GORDON RITCHIE, JOURNALIST, SCOTLAND
Heather is a brilliant professional with lots of power, which makes work easier. She’s kind of like a Swiss knife, helpful in many, many different situations, from public relations to translations, from work with the press to all kinds of communication activity.
KLAUS MARTIN, MANAGER OF AGENCEMAT, FRANCE
Heather is an exemplary press officer, able to keep her cool while deftly managing myriad responsibilities with competing, overlapping deadlines. She invariably maintains a professional, personable demeanour and provides journalists with the information needed to do their jobs.
Christopher Jonnum, Jonnum Media Director
Heather’s translations have always proved perfect, particularly in terms of the technical content, which not everyone is able to grasp correctly. One of the best translators I’ve worked with, I will continue to trust in her services in the future.
